HTC Extended Battery and Door for HTC DROID Incredible

I just received the 2150mAh battery and wanted to share some pictures of what it looks like in the phone. At first glance this thing looks huge.

Compared to the original way the phone looks with the stock battery below, it add about a 1/4″ inch to the cover.

Here are some pictures with the new battery and cover in. You can see the red circle around the camera disappears with the larger cover.

I’m charging it now via USB and I will then discharge it fully to get some good reading about battery time. The battery itself was purchased from htcpedia.com as an OEM battery complete with the cover that still reads HTC with Google.

I’ll post my battery times and more info about actual use one I’ve held it for a while.

HTC Extended Battery and Door – 2150 mAh

While researching a new battery for the HTC Droid Incredible, I came across an Amazon.com review that had vague info on a much bigger OEM battery for the Incredible. The link comes from htcpedia. It is a 2150 mAh battery and extended door cover.

Seeing that the stock OEM battery is 1300 mAh, I’d love to get my hand on this extended battery. Unfortunately it is out of stock though. Does anyone already have this battery in their Incredible? If so how are the times and how much bigger is the actual device?

Droid Incredible Charging

With the stock battery, I find that you have to physically turn the phone off to get a full charge out of it. I’m curious to know if this is just the battery or if it is just the way the phone charges.

Charging was done with a micro-USB cable and the light was green indicating a full charge. Unplugging it from the charger for about 2 hours, now showing 80% remaining. I plan on buying the Seido battery from Amazon.com and giving it a try.

Anyone else see this issue?

Droid Incredible Battery Life Final Thoughts

I’m going to go ahead and close this out for now. I’ll continue to monitor the battery life and see where we end up.

All in all the battery life has improved. The following is what I’ve done:

  • Installed Apollo Task Killer app
  • Set auto kill to 5 minutes for ATK
  • Installed Battery Left app
  • Removed Hi AIM app from constantly being on
  • Controlled the brightness depending on where I was using the phone
  • Controlled the connections with the  control widget
  • Fully power cycled the battery from full charge to no charge twice

For the power cycling, I fully charged the battery, unplugged it, then rebooted it so the awake/up time displayed properly.

The Battery Left app is still showing me with about 12 hours left and the status is ‘accurate’  but I know that I am getting more time than it lists. I may have to exclude it form the auto kill on ATK and let it run for a few days.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the battery life? Thanks for following this!

Droid Incredible Battery Life Update 3 – better results

Since fully powering my Incredible yesterday, I’m pleased to report that it is still running with 37% remaining. My uptime is 20 hours 36 minutes and my Awake time is 1 hour 53 minutes.

This is vastly different from what I first noted when using the Droid. From some posts around the Net, it seems more and more that this battery needs some attention to conditioning.

These times are from moderate use. As you can tell from my Awake Time, I haven’t been watching youtube videos all day or playing games all day. Over the weekend I’ll try to really press the battery and see what we end up with.

Stay tuned and thanks for taking a look at the post!

Quick update: I should also note that I am using Apollo Task Killer to end tasks on close.

Droid Incredible Battery Life Update 2

Armed with a full charge, and no AIM app running, I’ve rebooted and now read 8 minuets Awake and 38 Minutes up time. so far so good.

The Battery Left app is still 8 hours and 22 minutes remaining which seems a little short to me. It’s reading the accuracy as Moderate. I was made sure that the battery was fully charged before disconnecting it.

Droid Incredible Battery Life Update

It looks like my battery issue was due to an AIM app that never shut down. Apollo Task Killer fixed it. It does look like charging keeps it awake so I will reboot after a full charge to check the awake time today.
Also had an OTA update go to my incredible and install. According to the http://support.vzw.com/system_update/htc_incredible.html site, it is for business email.

HTC Droid Incredible Battery life

As a new Droid owner, I’m feeling that the battery life isn’t what I’d expect it to be. However, the Droid Incredible does a lot of things that consumes battery life. So, I’ll give the Battery Left app a try to monitor it.

http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-preinvent-batteryleft-xmwx.aspx

It asks to fully charge then drain the battery completely. We’re fully charged now so time to play and see what life I get out of it. Current stats say my battery will be dead in 9 hours an 33 minutes. Battery shipped is 1300mAh Li-on battery. Stand by for more.
